It’s the eighth month of the year, and thus traditional for me to partake in the month-long blog extravaganza that is Blaugust. But our second child is due to be born in a week and a half, and I can’t imagine any of my usual Blaug shenanigans managing to withstand the whirlwind we’re about to be caught up in, so I thought I’d try turning the Leaflocker into a little daily newborn-dad diary (dlog) for the month.
Exactly what this will look like, whether I’ll be able to skate the lines between oversharing and privacy, terror and besottal, brevity and gushing, while caring for the family and negotiating extreme sleep deprivation is yet to be seen. But one thing is for sure, it will be a departure from the video game reviews that have been the staple around here of late.
We spent today pottering in the garden, planting some new fruit trees ready for the spring. It’s not clear how we’ll find the time and energy to care for them this coming year, but for now it’s just been nice to spend the time together in the sunshine, and if that’s not a metaphor for this little week or so before things get crazy, I don’t know what is.
